It was mentioned that pushing times might improve with a little music motivation. In the Tercel club, we aim to please, so I showed up early to install a custom sound system.
It must have worked, because all kinds of 1st's were recorded this fine afternoon. I had a few extra minutes before people showed up, and I know that sometimes people like to see photos of places they may never witness in person, so here is a shot of the Tercel interior. Don't hate us because we live a life of luxury.
People starting showing up and milling about, keeping busy in conversation as to avoid going first. Addie(11) got tired of all the talk with no push, and busted out a very respectable time of 1.19
Rosie(10), her younger sister was up next and rolled to an impressive 49 seconds!
Liam(8), the final sibling sauntered up to the starting line and muscled his way to a very nice time of 1:01.
I feel like I should mention here, that no kids(or anyone) are ever coerced to push. There is very much an atmosphere of fun during this whole scene, the kids pick up on that and we have to tell them to wait their turn.
It was generally decided that this was going to be an endurance day for most of us, as our sprint muscles were still quivering from the previous 2 days. Everybody did great, with JD and Scott blowing away the competition with 1st and 2nd club records in distance, respectively. Scott and Becky were the exceptions, with Becky logging another personal sprint best of 38.2 and Scott with his first Tercel sprint time of 28.11.
The adults had gone on long enough and Natalie(9) wanted in on the action. She teamed up with sisters Rosie and Addie to form a bodacious trio and proceeded to the hypersonic time of 34.91
Peyton wandered around being cute
He got more oohs and aahs from the women than we did, which was fairly annoying.
Natalie caught the fever and wanted to go one last time. This time Robin(her mom)was picked as her teammate of choice. They accelerated to a fine time of 32.66.
The team sprint is kind of a fun way to wrap things up, so Steve, Scott, Tim and myself lined up for the last run of the evening. I don't want to brag about our speed, but bystanders later described it as watching screaming cheetah wheelies. 17.71, people. Way to be men, men.
A record turnout for the club today. 11 pushers(including 5 first timers) and 6 support staff. I had/have some skeptics about this club idea, but just try to get this many people to go to the gym with you on a Monday and look this happy about it. See you Wednesday.
